Gwanpungheon was a guesthouse in Yeongwol where King Danjong moved after Cheongnyeongpo flooded; it is the tragic place where he was executed by poison. The adjacent Jagyuru Pavilion is where he is said to have composed poems comparing his sorrowful fate to a scops owl (jagy).

Located in the heart of downtown Yeongwol, it is easily accessible. There is no separate admission fee, and it is convenient to visit along with the nearby Yeongwol Seobu Market. In autumn, the large ginkgo tree on the premises turns yellow, creating a beautiful scene.
